5 Wonderful Ways We are Saving the Planet this Earth Day!
On the 22nd of April, we will celebrate Earth Day. We thought this would be a great time to share some of the ways that we at Imaginacts are helping to save the earth through sustainable and eco-friendly practices.
Recycled Pass the Parcel Wrapping
Most parents have been on bin bag duty at the end of a game of pass the parcel – picking up what seems like mountains of ripped and discarded paper, which has only been used to wrap one layer of a small parcel. What a waste! At Imaginacts, we wrap our pass the parcels in fabric and ribbon; not only does this mean that our parcels look lovely, but we are also able to reuse our wrapping hundreds of times over, without creating waste. Both the fabric and the ribbons used are offcuts. Using them to wrap parcels saves them from being wasted and simply thrown away.
Vegan Sweets
All of the sweets that we supply at Imaginacts parties are vegan; not only does this mean that they are suitable for any of our guests with dietary restrictions, but they are also better for the environment! The meat and dairy industry are large contributors to global warming. If we all made a few swaps to plant based alternatives, this would have a positive impact on our planet! A lot of our favourite snack foods are actually vegan, including some foods you may not expect – who knew that you could do some good for the planet while enjoying a Jammie Dodger!
Paper Crafts
We love a craft activity, and offer crafts and colouring in several of our party packages. Our craft activities are always made from paper – meaning that they are fully recyclable! Each paper craft is themed to the character attending the party; you may be creating a superhero’s costume, decorating a floating lantern, or even building a snowman! We pre-cut all the shapes and pieces needed, using as much of each sheet of paper as possible, and ensure that any offcuts are recycled or reused. High Quality Gifts
One of Earth Day’s goals is to reduce the amount of plastic produced by 60% by 2040. So many gifts and toys that go into party bags are cheaply made from plastic, and end up in the bin. We ensure that every child leaves an Imaginacts party not only with special memories, but also with an autograph from our characters. While we’re sure that these will be treasured, they are of course on recyclable paper! Our birthday guest of honour will also receive a special gift; either a tiara or medal is given to them in a special coronation or award ceremony. These are high quality and made to last.
Eco-Friendly Cleaning Products
Behind the scenes, a lot of cleaning goes on in between parties and events! Many cleaning products contain ingredients that can harm the environment – we ensure that the cleaning products that we use are both safe for the environment, and for anyone who comes into contact with them. From cleaning ballgowns and capes, to disinfecting party supplies, everything that we use is kind to the planet.
We are always working to reduce our impact on the environment, and are constantly educating ourselves and our team on ways we can keep saving the earth.
