4 Fun and Free Summer Holiday Activities!

With the Summer Holidays creeping nearer, many parents are already wondering how they will keep their children entertained for six long weeks! There are so many fun activities out there to try, but spending hundreds of pounds on a family day out isn’t always practical. We have put together a few of our favourite fun and free activities for you to try this Summer!

Free and fun summer holiday activities

Ice Painting

An activity that our Ice Harvester would certainly approve of! All you need is an ice cube tray and some food colouring. Freeze different coloured blocks, and then use them to paint on paper, windows, or even garden paving or the pavement. If you have lollipop sticks to use as handles, this can help smaller hands to pick up the ice, but it isn’t a necessity. This is so much fun to watch the colours mix and melt together, and is a great choice for a cooling activity on a hot Summer day.

If your little ones are not interested in painting, freezing small toys in coloured ice and providing tools to help melt or chip away at the ice is a fun alternative! Maybe the Ice Queen set off another icy blast and froze their favourite toys by accident!

Nature Bracelets

Going outside for a walk or to the park is a favourite activity throughout the Summer holidays; but we have a few suggestions to make it exciting again if it feels like you’ve gone to play on the same swings one too many times! All you need for this activity is a roll of tape – any kind is fine, but we would recommend a thicker width if you have it. Simply cut a length of tape and attach the ends together around your child’s wrist, with the sticky side facing outwards. They then have the perfect base to attach any treasures they find.

You could even make multiple bracelets, with specific themes for them to search for; for instance a green bracelet, or a bracelet of flowers. The possibilities are endless, and you will have some beautiful creations by the end of your walk!

Scavenger Hunt

Another fun addition to a walk is a scavenger hunt! Again, you can make this a certain theme, or adapt your hunt for older and younger children. Green Child Magazine share lots of wonderful ideas here – our favourite is the egg box scavenger hunt, which is perfect for any little ones who love to pick up and collect special items!

This can also be adapted for inside when you need rainy day activities, finding certain items from different rooms, or items that are different textures or colours.

Superhero and Princess Crafts

It is no secret that we love craft activities at Imaginacts; our two hour parties all have a fun themed craft element which our little royals and heroes love! Why not make your own version at home? We specially cut out shapes for our people and their hero outfits and ballgowns, but you can achieve this at home by cutting pictures out of magazines, or printing out pictures, and decorating your hero or royal’s outfits however you choose! We say the more glitter the better!

We have posted some other blogs with fun craft ideas if you just can’t get enough of crafts!

Whatever you get up to during the Summer holidays, we hope that you and your family have a wonderful time and make some fantastic memories together. Here at Imaginacts, we are looking forward to a summer full of parties, celebrations, and some big events that we are very excited about! Do let us know if we’ll be seeing you this Summer; we can’t wait to make some magic with you!
